After seven years in Hawaii, Mr. Joshua McCroskey returned to his native Virginia in Spring of 2022 with his wife Johanna and their children Camilla and Louis. While in Hawaii, he served as the Middle and Upper School Principal at Trinity Christian School in Kailua, Oahu's only classical Christian school. While there, he also taught humanities, science, and mathematics. Mrs. Janet Cooper leads the K-6th grade program. Prior to Ad Fontes, she was a teacher and principal at another start-up classical school. She began at AFA as a first-grade teacher for four years before becoming the Lower School Principal. Mrs. Cooper holds an associate degree in Liberal Arts from Oxford College at Emory University and a bachelor's degree in Tutorial Studies (Philosophy) from the University of Chicago. She is married to Peter and has three children: Prentice, Emma and Ezra (all AFA graduates).
After having taught classically for six years (five of them at Ad Fontes) and worked with students as a youth minister for three years, Mr. Zachary Rallo is excited to be stepping into administration as Principal of the Upper School. He has taught Literature, Logic, Bible, and Rhetoric at Ad Fontes, delighting in watching students grow in their ability to write, think, and speak. He also coaches Ultimate Frisbee here at AFA. Mr. Dave Mathwin has taught at Ad Fontes since 1998. He lives in Midland with his wife Linda and their three children, John, AJ, and Keris. In past years he taught a variety of subjects but now concentrates on teaching History at the Upper School. Mr. Paul Cameron spent his formative years abroad in Europe as a military kid and missionary. He graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Business Marketing and an M.B.A. in Public Relations. As the Director of Athletics, College Support, and Student Activities, Mr. Cameron strives to use his experiences and knowledge to enhance the development and spiritual growth of our students.
Mrs. Debra Davis serves as the AFA Administrative Director and previously served as the Upper School Office Manager. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Audiology at the University of Tulsa, a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Speech and Hearing Disorders at Phillips University and an Associates degree in Nursing at Cameron University. Mrs. Davis worked eight years as a registered nurse caring for premature infants. Mrs. Julie Jeffrey is the business manager at Ad Fontes Academy. Prior to her time at AFA, she worked for a government contractor in human resources and accounting. Julie holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. Julie is married to Terry and has five children and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Christina Jenkins brings a diverse professional background to the Admissions Director role at Ad Fontes. She graduated with a B.S. in psychology from James Madison University. After moving to Northern Virginia, she pursued a career in human resource leadership and other business operations positions. She first encountered classical Christian education when transitioning from a public school position to homeschooling her two oldest children. Mrs. Mimsie Houser graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and holds a Master's in Education and Post-Master's as an educational specialist from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is also a certified school psychologist. While studying at IUP, she taught undergraduate courses and worked at IUP's Student Support Center where she implemented accommodations for undergraduate students with special learning needs. Being the wife of an often on-the-move army dentist, she has worked in multiple diverse school settings as a teacher, tutor, and therapist for students of all ages. Mrs. Laurie Bracewell graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Fine Art. She worked for 10 years as a graphic designer and then decided to pursue her passion for photography, starting her own business and photographing weddings for the next 5 years. Her husband's job led the family overseas to England and Germany where Mrs. Bracewell shifted focus from weddings to landscape photography, and admits to planning family trips in Europe based on places she wanted to capture.
