Admissions Process – Step by Step

Selecting the right school for your children is one of the most important decisions you have as a parent. Our admissions process is designed to help your family determine if Ad Fontes is the best fit. Learn more in the steps below.

We are excited to invite you to attend an open house event. An open house offers families the opportunity to tour the campus, visit classrooms, and hear why Ad Fontes is a unique and special school from both our leadership and our students. These events are hosted by our admissions director and includes an overview of classical Christian education, information about the application process, and Q&A time.

The $170 non-refundable application fee covers the cost of the entire process for one student. There is a max family fee of $300 for families applying for multiple children. The application includes:

  1. Family information
  2. Student history and information
  3. Contact information for a teacher referral request
  4. Request for student records (to be submitted by parents to the school)
  5. Reading/signing of the Ad Fontes Academy Statement of Faith (at least one parent must be in agreement with our Statement of Faith)

An application will not be considered for review until we have received a completed application, a teacher referral, and school records (not applicable for kindergarten applicants). For applicants in grades 7 and up, a teacher referral must come from a core subject teacher (math, English, or science). Homeschool applicants may submit a teacher referral from any adult who provides supervision and instruction to your child (Sunday School teacher, music instructor, athletic coach, or a tutor). Instructions for submitting homeschool records are detailed in the application.

Ad Fontes provides needs-based tuition aid to qualifying families. If you plan to apply for assistance, please complete our FACTS Grant & Aid application in addition to the admission application.

Our early application deadline is January 15th. Our regular application deadline is February 15th. An application is considered complete when an application has been submitted and a teacher referral and records have been received. Rolling admissions begins February 16th for any available spots.

Ad Fontes Academy admits students and hires staff of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, employment policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Once all materials are received, the admissions team will review each application. Those applications that meet the standard for approval will continue to the next step. If it is determined that the student is not likely to meet with success at Ad Fontes, we will notify the family of our decision.

Applicants who continue through the admissions process will be scheduled to complete an assessment at our school to be administered by a member of our admissions team. The Kaufman Test of Education Achievement, referred to as the KTEA, assesses students for academic skills in math, reading and writing appropriate to their age and grade level.

Students applying for 7th grade and up will have an opportunity to shadow for a half-day or full-day at Ad Fontes. Applicants will be paired with a student host in their current grade. Shadowing is a great way for a prospective student to experience and understand our school. Applicants will have a personal view of what it is like to be an Ad Fontes student by meeting the students and faculty and by observing and participating in a variety of classes. A Shadow Day is one of the best ways to see if Ad Fontes is the right fit.

The admissions team will perform another review of all materials submitted including assessment results and shadow day input.

Applicants who continue through the admissions process will be scheduled for a family meeting between parents and Ad Fontes leadership. The conversation provides both parents and leadership to ask questions and to share information that will help both parties to decide if Ad Fontes will be a good fit for the family. Prospective Upper School students (rising 7th grade and up) are included in the family meeting.

Upon completion of the Family Meeting, the admissions team will make a final decision on whether to offer admission to the applicant. Families are notified of all decisions throughout the process via email.
