Ad Fontes has sent five missions teams to our partner school, Refuge of Hope or Refugio de Esperanza, in Pucallpa, Peru. Additionally, our sixth alumni missions trip, led by Paula and Lauren Sloan (AFA ’13) served the Refuge! Over 60 students and adults have built relationships with the students and resident adults, many with significant disabilities, while completing many work projects and leading vacation Bible School.
Here is a note from our sister school: Many thanks to recent volunteers from Ad Fontes Academy in Centerville, Virginia, who traveled to Refugio de Esperanza, and poured their time, money, and plenty of sweat for a week of labor in the jungle heat. They painted, landscaped, built a roof, put up screens and telephone poles, spent time with students, and ministered to children in remote villages along the Ucayali River, a tributary of the Amazon River. The teachers and staff were grateful for the support of the volunteer team.
