Skills Employers Look for in Graduates

Learning-for-Life-UpperSchoolWhen it comes to your child’s education, it’s never too early to start thinking about college and beyond. After all, if you want your child to be successful in life, it all starts with a solid educational foundation.

In fact, a recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers from 2018, shows that employers are mostly interested in a handful of skills in college graduates. These skills include problem-solving and critical thinking skills, the ability to work in a team and leadership skills, proficiency in written communication skills, and a strong work ethic.

At Ad Fontes, we are strongly focused on helping your child succeed in college and in life. Thanks to our curriculum and classical education, we are preparing our students for every skill listed in the survey.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills

At Ad Fontes Academy, we use the Classical education method which teaches critical thinking skills through the unique system of teaching them grammar, logic, and rhetoric in several stages. Students start out with the grammar stage, then move on to the logic stage, and finally go through the rhetoric stage.

Proficiency in Written Communication Skills

Writing skills are honed through teaching kids not only the intricacies of grammar but also by having students read great works of literature. Reading great works teaches the mind the construction of good writing.

Leadership And Teamwork Skills

Ad Fontes Academy trains and prepares students for leadership roles through the unique, student-led house system in the Upper School. The purpose of the House System is to expand student leadership, mentoring and friendship opportunities across grade levels.

Thanks to numerous student activities and rich student life along with friendly competitions, our students learn to work in a team. This means that they learn to get along and work with different personalities as well as learn how to delegate, take direction, and value different opinions.

Strong Work Ethic

A strong work ethic is instilled into Ad Fontes Academy students from an early age. Since our curriculum is academically rigorous, our students are trained in tenacity and perseverance. Thanks to this curriculum, our students can unearth their full potential and achieve academic excellence.

All of this is done in a loving, Christian community where morals are breathed into each child daily and in every subject taught.
